An Evening of Two Tamil Stage Plays - by Kalalaya Productions
The highlight of the evening was the staging of two remarkable dramas — Neelamayil, a complete laugh riot that kept the audience thoroughly entertained, and Kalalaya Apartments, a rich and layered presentation that beautifully explored themes of love, the tender bond between a mother and son, friendships among like-minded individuals, the spirit of helping others, adapting to change, and delightful moments of humor woven throughout. It was a perfect blend of emotions — capturing everything from the feelings of an NRI returning home to the everyday experiences of residents in an apartment complex — making the narrative deeply relatable and engaging.
The dance performances and live violin segments added tremendous depth and texture to the productions and were wholeheartedly appreciated by the audience. The auditorium resonated not only with laughter and applause but also with a wide spectrum of emotions, as the dramas captivated viewers across all age groups. The Producer, Writer, and Director of these plays, Mr. Krishna Sankar, was honored by ATS for bringing such meaningful productions to the community, keeping Tamizh drama alive, and carrying it forward to the next generation by engaging audiences of all ages. The cast, sound, lighting, and overall production were flawless — every member of the team did an outstanding job.
The new executive team and the newly formed youth team were formally introduced on stage, marking a promising and energetic beginning for the year ahead.
The fourth issue of Aambal was ceremoniously released by Professor Dr. Chinna Natesan, and director, writer, and actor Krishna Sankar received the first copy. Both shared thoughtful reflections on the stories and articles featured in this issue, highlighting the depth and diversity of the contributions. They also appreciated ATS for the dedication and hard work behind producing such a professional magazine, and for providing a valuable platform like Aambal that nurtures creativity and encourages writers and artists of all ages to share their talents with the community.
Adding to the celebratory spirit of the evening, Young Chess Champion Akhil Gopu, Young Bharatanatyam Champion Athriya Balaji, and Young Volleyball Champion Siddanth Saikanth were honored by ATS for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields. The awards were presented by Guru Mrs. Vinitha Subramanian and Dr. Chinna Natesan, making the recognition especially meaningful and memorable.
Overall, the evening was a perfect blend of creativity, recognition, and community spirit. Thanks to all the volunteers and the audience for making this a memorable evening!
