2026 “பொங்கலோ பொங்கல்” – நிகழ்வு சுருக்கம் 

ஆஸ்டின் தமிழ்ச் சங்கம் ஏற்பாட்டில், 2026 பிப்ரவரி 7 அன்று ஆஸ்டின் இந்து கோவிலில் நடைபெற்ற “பொங்கலோ பொங்கல்” விழா, பாரம்பரியமும் சமூக ஒற்றுமையும் நிறைந்த ஒரு நினைவுகூரத்தக்க நிகழ்வாக அமைந்தது.தமிழ் கிராமிய பண்பாட்டை நினைவூட்டும் விறகு அடுப்பு பொங்கல் மற்றும் பாரம்பரிய உறியடி விளையாட்டு ஆகியவை, சிறுவர்கள் முதல் பெரியவர்கள் வரை அனைவரையும் உற்சாகமாக ஈர்த்தன.

இந்நிகழ்வில் முதன்மை விருந்தினராக கலந்துகொண்ட முனைவர் திரு. சின்னா நடேசன் அவர்கள், விவசாயிகளின் கடின உழைப்பை மதிக்க வேண்டிய அவசியத்தையும், உணவை எந்த வடிவிலும் வீணாக்காமல் பாதுகாப்பது ஒவ்வொருவரின் சமூகப் பொறுப்பாகும் என்பதையும் வலியுறுத்தி உரையாற்றினார். அவரது சிந்தனைமிக்க கருத்துகள் நிகழ்விற்கு ஆழ்ந்த அர்த்தத்தையும் பெருமையையும் சேர்த்தன.

சமூக உறுப்பினர்களின் பெரும் பங்கேற்பு, தன்னார்வலர்களின் அர்ப்பணிப்பு, மற்றும் ஆஸ்டின் இந்து கோவில் நிர்வாகத்தின் முழு ஒத்துழைப்பு ஆகியவை இந்த விழா சிறப்பாக நடைபெற முக்கிய காரணங்களாக அமைந்தன. மேலும், இந்தியாவிலிருந்து வந்திருந்த பெற்றோர்கள் உள்ளிட்ட அனைத்து பங்கேற்பாளர்களின் வருகையும், நிகழ்வின் மகிழ்ச்சியையும் குடும்பநேய உணர்வையும் மேலும் உயர்த்தியது.

2026 ATS “பொங்கலோ பொங்கல்” விழா, தமிழர் பண்பாட்டின் வளத்தையும், சமூக ஒற்றுமையின் வலிமையையும் மீண்டும் ஒருமுறை உறுதிப்படுத்திய ஒரு சிறப்பான கொண்டாட்டமாக நினைவில் நிலைத்திருக்கிறது.

Heartfelt thanks to all who participated in the traditional village-style Viragu Aduppu Pongal and enjoyed the festive Uriyadi on Saturday, February 7th, at the Austin Hindu Temple. The community’s enthusiasm truly brought the spirit of Pongal alive.
We extend our special thanks to our Chief Guest, Dr. Chinna Natesan, whose presence added great significance to the celebration. His thoughtful message on honoring our farmers’ hard work and the importance of never wasting food deeply resonated with everyone and beautifully reflected the true values of the Pongal festival.

The enthusiastic participation of community members, the dedicated efforts of our volunteers, and the cooperation of the Austin Hindu Temple administration were instrumental in making this event a resounding success. The presence of all participants further enriched the celebration, adding warmth, joy, and a strong sense of family spirit.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the visiting parents, participants from outside the Greater Austin area, the children who brought vibrant energy to the festivities, our committed volunteers, and the temple organization for their generous support and for providing the venue.

The 2026 ATS “Pongalo Pongal” festival remains in the memory as a special celebration that once again affirmed the richness of Tamizh culture and the strength of social unity.
